Job Title: Gifted Teacher

Supervises: Para-professionals, students
Job Goal: To provide a quality instructional program for students in a safe, orderly, and positive school environment.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Implement board and administration policies.
- Guide students in the learning process to achieve learning objectives.
- Create a safe, orderly, and positive environment for learning.
- Maintain good discipline in the classroom, in the school, and at school activities.
- Be a good role model for students and peers.
- Participate in curriculum development and revision.
- Serve on advisory and study committees/teams.
- Participate in the district's assessment program.
- Accurately keep; and report necessary records such as student progress, grades, and attendance.
- Seek to develop communication and cooperation between the home and school.
- Strive for good working relationships with other staff members.
- Participate in the evaluation of school programs and policies.
- Follow all requirements set forth by DESE and district board policies.
- Assists and facilitates referral and screening procedures for identifying gifted students.
- Acts as a consultant for classroom teachers regarding the program of instruction for gifted students in regular classrooms.
- Participates in review of assessment information and portfolio reviews to determine student eligibility for gifted education.
- Plans differentiated instruction for gifted students according to their individual needs or interests.
- Monitors and evaluates student progress in gifted education; keeps a record of progress and communicates progress to students regularly.
- Conferences with parents regularly to report student progress and to review educational plans.
- Secures resources outside of the school district to support extended learning opportunities for gifted students.
- Seeks professional development opportunities to maintain a current knowledge base for gifted education.
- Performs other duties as assigned by administration.
Terms of employment: Nine month contract, salary and work year to be established by the board.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the principal in accordance with provisions of district board policy.
